The National Election Board of Ethiopia has announced that it has rejected the request of the People’s Liberation Front of Tigray (TPLF) to cancel its legal personality.

On January 10, 2013, the board decided that the TPLF was involved in riots during the war with the federal government, canceling its legal entity and paying off its assets if it has debts, and the remaining money and assets to be used for civics and voter education.

Following this, it is known that he submitted a request to the Election Board on April 28, 2015 to withdraw the interlocutory decision, taking into account the change in the conclusion that the TPLF participated in the act of rebellion.

According to the same request, the board investigated the matter and informed the decision in the letter; Although the Hull-based riots that were the basis for the ban no longer exist; He said that he did not find the matter supported by law to restore the legal personality of the party. Therefore, the TPLF has been notified to apply for re-registration in order to gain legal status.
