According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen attacked a police station in the Sunshine area of the city, and four policemen were killed in the attack. Eyewitnesses added that after the armed group launched the attack, it freed its own militants who were in the prison.

The town of Bischoftu, where militants from a group called Shene by the government attacked; It is known that it is located close to Addis Ababa, the seat of the federal government. It is said that the armed group had a shootout with government security forces in the city’s Adulla area a few days ago.

In the meantime, the “Oromo Liberation Army” announced on his Twitter page yesterday that the government forces attacked his holdings located in Meta Wolkite area of West Showa. The group claimed that the fighters retaliated against the attack, rendering 94 government soldiers “incapacitated” and capturing more than 50 soldiers. The group also claimed to have retaliated against an attack by government forces in Horo Gudru Welega Zone.

The conflict between the government forces and the Oromo Liberation Army has re-emerged after the two parties sent negotiators to Tanzania last month to discuss but failed to reach an agreement. Although the two parties stated that they could not agree in the first round of talks, nothing has been heard about scheduling another discussion.

The group that is fighting the government separately from the Oromo Liberation Front has been blamed by the government and the residents for the killings of innocent people in the Oromia region in the past years.
